Van tyre ratings
#1
Next query :-

My little van has got 3 tyres the same and another make of the same rating (81T 4ply - 1 poly ply in the tread, 1 poly & 2 steel plies in the sidewall.) One is damaged so I need to buy a new one.

But the manual suggests 89T (6 ply - 2 poly ply in tread, 2 poly & 2 steel plies in sidewall), for the weight capacity of the 800 model.

Do I have to have the higher rated tyres - or is it only a requirement if I use it fully loaded.

Thx

I've been told that I need the correct tire that is stated for the van. If stopped by VOSA or the police and the tyre is not the correct load type it classes the vehicle as defective which could lead to 3 points and £60 fine.

Or even the van impounded until the tyre is replaced.

So now I know.

These are going to be at least £50 a pop even for Chinese. If anyone wants some 81T rated 165/70 R14 tyres, nearly new, in the Herts area PM me.

At a factory you had preinstalled:
TYRE (SIZE, TYPE) 165X70X14 R TYRES
WHEEL (TYPE) STEEL WHEELS

Tyres you need:
175/65 R14 89R MICHELIN AGILIS 51 or
165/70 R14 89R MICHELIN XC4S
