Is it an MA series gearbox, or BE? How many bolts hold the tin hat to its nearside end?

Tin hat? does that meant the cap on the end? ...lol, idk, Im new to all of this terminology!

If so, its secured by 3 bolts..

Thank you Smile

That's an MA gearbox, something that is useful to know when it comes to clutch cables and the like.

Be sure to use 75W80 oil; I add a tube of PTFE additive to all PSA gearboxes the first time. Look for the level plug on the casing side (often 8mm square female fitting) and either fill through there or the breather.

Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated Smile

Do I fill 'till it starts to come back out of the level plug?

Yes, that's the way. If you're talented, the oil can be squirted in through there using a right-angled nozzle on the oil container pump or squeezy bottle instead of through the breather. It won't expire if you're up or down a shade on the correct oil level.
