My Mk1 has 14" VTR alloys on it and the Mother-in-Laws Mk2 has 15" standard wheels on it.
Are my wheels the correct size or has someone gone smaller when putting the VTR alloys on?
It looks and drives fine on them but the speedo is MILES out so wondering if it was the wheel size.

More relevant is the actual tyre size if wheels & tyres from another car have been fitted. If tyres are of a profile lower than standard Berlingo with 14inch wheels then your speedo will indicate faster than your actual speed as your tyres will be of smaller diameter.

I have 15" rims on my '06 Desire and these were fitted as standard for that particular
variant. I believe I'm correct in saying that all other Mk.2 vehicles were fitted with 14" rims.
The difference in OD of the wheels plus correct tyre is negligible as the 14" tyres have a
taller side wall. (Assuming that the correct tyres are fitted to the rims.)

175/65/14 standard and 185/55/14 is what I have so the difference is 4.29% in speedo reading and a ride height loss of 12mm. So at 60mph my speedo will be reading 62.6.
At the moment its more like 10mph out at 70 according to my sat nav!

It's acceptable for the speedo to read higher than your actual speed but not the other way round or you could get ticketed for speeding while thinking you were at or below the limit. GPS is more accurate than your speedo anyway but even they are not deadly accurate only on a straight road. Usually the higher your speed the higher the error percentage gets, no manufacturer gives a dead accurate reading.
So where does this bit go then ?

It doesn't matter much to me with 175,000 on the clock but at almost 15% out your losing 150 miles every 1000 so services come sooner and vehicle price goes down. Maybe I'm just being a little anal about it?
