When I had my Jag, the red line was 6500rpm, even when driving it like my hair was on fire I never went over 5500rpm.

Lord knows why you would want to do that to a diesel.

Just found this thread in the Solved section but cannot see the any answer Sad Mine does this too, I'm trying to resolve a smoke issue which during the processes of elimination to get boost without smoking out the public roads is requiring lots of reving fairly high on my driveway. The noise I am getting sounds like a rumbly bearing but takes longer to slow than the engine its self. I have changed the turbo and the noise has not changed. Can anyone confirm that this noise can occur on engines that do not create copious amounts of smoke and I can stop my hunt for the source of the noise.
