Why did i wash the bloody thing !
#1
Just after xmas i gave my Berlingo van a treat and washed the inside.

Since then the radio has not worked (occasionally you get clicking noises coming from the speakers etc) but most of the time dead !

All the dash lights work and all functions are fine (except radio)

The small display panel where clock/radio functions are is very erratic, the clock freezes at the start of a journey so if you start journey at 9 it freezes at 9 until you stop and then goes to the current correct time after you turn engine off ?

There are no radio functions on display and the radio stalk does not work ?

I thought it would of all dried out but 3 months down the line its the same ?

Where do I start ? Where is the BSI etc thanks

Hi just give it a good wash, with sponge and water, never been same since ? Where is the BSI ? Most of water was on small display, as i said everything except radio works and the small display seems to freeze (clock etc) when engine is running, if you open a door while engine running the scrolling text (saying which door is open) seems to start scrolling then freeze on display ?

The radio comms and the display comms are spliced together on the same leg.
Try doing a bsi reset (see link below).
Does anything happen when you switch the radio on or when you insert a disc? Confusedcratch:

Hi no the radio seems to be dead nothing, but ocasionally it springs to life ! It started crackling out of the speakers and a tape was inserted and that suddenly started playing (well you could hear the tape going round but no sound) But 99 % of the time its dead ? Will try a BSI reset where is the BSI unit was just going to have a look ? Thanks

The Bsi is behind the cover under the steering wheel. Confusedalut:

Check fuse 4 & 22 in the bsi.
If these are ok I'd pull the unit out and check the connections.
Don't worry about losing the code as the radio is programmed to your vin number.
Have a read of this, post 9. http://www.berlingoforum.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=2119
