As above, I have my MOT this evening and coming into work this morning the engine Management light came on and stayed on. Will the van go through the test with the light on??
By the way I know why it came on as this happened before. The EGR valve has developed a fault about 3 months ago and I replaced it with a second hand e-bay special and had the light put out, all sorted. Murphy's Law that it had to go again this morning... The symptoms for those who are interested, the van stops and once the ignition is switched of for a few seconds it starts again.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
By the way, it's a 2007 1.6 Hdi Berlingo...

I wouldn't think it would fail on the light it'self but if the fault relates to exhaust emissions then when this is tested it probably would. illyme:

Maybe a related question: EGR blanking plates - good or bad?
In the meantime 'prunty', good luck with the MOT.

I had done, I just hadn't realised that when searching for EGR blanking plates it's best not to mention the EGR bit. As in life, it's best to be a bit vague about things.
Sorry to hijack the thread 'prunty'.

The MOT test rules changed recently.
You will now fail if the emissions light or seat belt light are on or any other fault light on your dash.

MOT has become more thorough.
I was there for ages last week.
Failed on sunstrip (within sweep of wipers), but then passed (if you know what I mean  ).
At least when it's passed, you know it's passed!
Which is a good thing, I suppose?

Could you get away with shorter wipers for the MOT, so they are clear of the sunstrip?

Well and update, I got the light put out before I went for the test in the hope that I could get to the centre and through the test before it came on again and it worked. The van went through and I've a nice shiny cert to take home...
Anyway on the way home the fault kicked in van stopped and the light came back on again. Ahh well I still have the EGR valve issue to sort out...
So in answer to my original question, I have no idea...
