Yes a big pain
It is quite possibly the most stupid location for a component that requires frequent change,

Changing the cabin (pollen) filter is just as bad if not worse.

63 plate fuel filter, NOW THAT is the worst serviceable part on the van.... or so says my mechanic... but he's not tried to do the pollen filter yet as it's not a year old yet, but it's had 4 services

I fitted a k&n panel filter, only needs a wash every 50,000 miles and don't need to spend all that time trying to change filter every year
