i have a 2005 berlingo forte, and both brake lights do not light up. I have checked the bulbs and fuses and they are fine. Presumably there is a switch activated by the pedal, could this have gone faulty? any other suggestions would be very welcome.

We had a discussion on this very subject in the last week and a solution was found.
Search for Brake light switch.
The brake light switch can be found on the upper part of the pedal mechanism. There is also a
connector on the floor (I'm not sure where) which feeds both brake lights and is prone to
corrosion. Do a search and have a read as the answer is here.

I think the wiring connectors people refer to, are under the little black-painted "side pans" between rear wheelarch and back of front seats of trades van models. You need a T20 driver to remove these pans. Try the driver's side first as there is more wiring there.
Not sure on side door models, what the harness arrangement is.
