Hi,
Ours was a petrol model, so location of sensor may be different. If one fan is not turning I'd recon it's seized.

Hi, Just dug my old Haynes manual out
Cooling fan switch without air con -blue wire connection and located in left hand side of radiator.
With air con -fans controlled by air con system control unit and temp sensor located in thermostat housing- brown wire connector.
HTH,
Griff

Not sure if this is relevant to this thread but I had a fairly long standing overheating issue in my Petrol 1.6L The problem was solved when I couldn't get it started one morning and the garage fitted a new Coil Pack. I suspect that the old one may have been faulty for some time.
