front end wobble/shaking when braking.

hi guys bit of a pain on my 2002/51 berlingo van.

its had new front discs and pads fitted a few months ago,new track rods, new ball joints,new droplinks also fitted within the last few months too.
it started shaking like mad when braking/pulling up at junctions. at first it was all the time when braking but then when changed the ball joints nd droplinks its now only when braking from say 35-40 mph.   Angry


 ive had the discs off and cleaned the hubs up with emery paper untill they were spotless.
the discs seam to be running true and fine(not bent)when braking (had it up on axle stands).


anyone any idea's what may be causing it? im starting to run out of patients with it now   Angry

I had a transit once that had those shakes when braking , it was the front discs opening out at the joint between the disc halves. Rust would get in and expanded it more and it got steadily worse. Manufacturing fault.

If the front brakes are OK ,what about the rear drums. If they are oval or cracked you'll get the shakes.

thanks for the quick reply Smile  ill check the rear brakes out tomorrow.
 but id say its defo coming from the front as its shaking up through the steering wheel too  Dodgy
it could be an fault with the discs as they were from euro's and it wouldnt be the first time ive had faulted parts from there,even know on inspection they looked fine.

Nearly always warped discs, however a mishaped or bulged tyre will do the same. With the wheels off the ground, rotate tyres looking for any bulges particularly in the tread area

Swap tyres front to rear, easy diagnosis / elimination.

Make sure the disc pad's are not loose one of them may be moving about under braking .
Also check the top mount's on the strut's .

Thanks for the reply's guys ive re changed the discs and pads with new ones and also swapped tyres from front to rear still got the wobble ?? so will now check strut top mounts.

One other thing to check well two engine mounting and gear box mount make sure there not loose or gone soft .

Hi
The best thing to do is take your car to your local mot station and ask to have your car put on the brake roller, they will let you see the fluctuation or run out on the display. You will see each brake individually  this is the quickest method. I do this in my own garage for myself and customers.
