Will not be buying Citroen again, main dealer wants £30 to check to see if clutch and fuel problem is covered by warranty, if it is then I don't get charged.
Good car spoiled by customer service, in my view.

That's dam poor, think I would call Citroen HQ and have a rant at them, surely they could answer the question without charging you?

I share the gripe of taxi, on other items. It seems now we (the mug punters) have to do the basic legwork for customer service on many things.

We now have a situation where the customer (us) is deemed to be either trying it on or stupid and have to first overcome that presumption. It's wrong, it's irritating, it's tiring and it's costly.

Had to fight my corner previously when other dealership tried to charge for a repair . Got repair under warranty. They must think I have nowt better to do.
Others have been asked for more by other dealers, so there's no continuity in these circumstances.

I had a problem with a second hand BX I bought of a Citroen main dealer back in about 1996. The head gasket went after about 1 month (when I test drove it I pointed out that the radiator was overflowing). They did the work (slowly) and admitted the fault was due to a sludged up radiator, then billed me £160 for work not covered under warranty like crack testing the head and so on. I paid up but checked with the RAC legal service who pointed out that the vehicle wasn't fit for service and the fault was obviously present when the car was sold. So under the Consumer Credit act (I can't remember exactly which parts now) I was entitled to free repair no matter what the warranty was. I also complained to Citroen UK. In the end I got 2 free services and a free MOT out of them and some of my money back.

My realationship with my(family owned)Citroen dealer in Colchester was always a good one during the 3yr warranty period. They would fix only if Citroen UK approved so I always emailed Citroen UK, had it out with them & then I would get a call from dealer to tell them to bring car in as Citroen UK had approved it. This was in the case of cosmetic faults like split gearlever boot & paint peeling off rear side door runners. Mechanical faults like window regulator coming loose in door causing rattle was fixed without argument.
