heater matrix pipes
#1
Hi All.

i have a misty windscreen when i first start to drive does clear in the end, i had a look up from the drivers footwell and can see the pipes that supply the matrix has some pink crusty stuff. obviously it looks to be leaking from there has anyone had this problem? has antone got a diagram for the matrix and piping when it comes into the bulkhead?

The heater matrix are well known for leaking, it may be that and the coolant running down the pipes, evaporating and leaving the coolant crystallising.

What model have you got ?.

It's probably the plastic pipe inline union just atop the matrix itself - a marvellously poor bit of engineering that distorts with time and heat to allow leakage.

can i just change the pipes or is the matrix apart of it?

is it a complete dash out job?

I'd guess it's a dash out job. Haven't done a Berlingo but the Xantia uses that same matrix with the same leaks.

I have the same problem in my MkI blingo, very bad coolant smell when I turn on the fan with hot setting. I wish I knew how to repair it.
