jump lead starting on mk 3

Thank you all for this thread...I've never had to jump start a car in my life and OH was totally against using my Mk3 to start his Polo because of the weird battery cover thingie. Having looked here though it looked pretty obvious ...he did try to put the black lead on the + terminal (black cover on the terminal of course, how daft is that?) but in a rare moment of superior mechanical knowledge I persuaded him to do it correctly and the Polo fired up perfectly. How gratifying.

(I'm not against getting my hands mucky btw but it was his Polo and jump leads. Let him get on with it! I'm a fast learner though, no problem about doing it from now on. My only problem is that %$£" catch under the bonnet, it wasn't designed for small hands.)
