low oil pressure warning light
#11
I've had a couple of accidents with engines, but...
Driving with the 'check engine' light? Or in 'limp home' mode?
(Only once, and that explained the name quite succinctly... Broken coil-pack... The 1.4i is really, really shitty running on just two cylinders... )

Frankly, the warning lamp should be replaced with a VISA symbol, meaning 'If you keep driving, this will get expensive'...

Thanks everyone for your advice.
We changed the oil pressure switch --- but that didn't cure the problem
Husband then went to check the sump and discovered filter on that the
filter on the oil pickup pipe was all clogged up so we have renewed that and so far so good.
The person that had the car just before us had had to have a new turbocharger fitted so we assumed that the oil pickup pipe would be alright.
Anyway hopefully the problem is fixed. Thanks again for your help and advice

Personally I would be checking that oil is flowing correctly through the turbo feed pipe and does the pipe look new?

If they didn't bother cleaning the sump when the turbo went, it makes you wonder what other remedial work they didn't do....

They used to sludge up badly under the rocker cover too.
On the Mk3, there was the VV carb, and the red rubber flap valve on the breather in the air cleaner that perished, and the battery tray falling into the passenger footwell due to corroded battery tray, then the nylon clutch adjuster quadrant on the pedal and-and-and

Those dpfs will cause more trouble as the engine gets older.it over heats the engine when it's regeneration its self.then the heat will totally destroy turbo.seen a few vids on YouTube about dpfs .my next van / car will b petrol
