Well, that is the average mpg indicator and if your driving hasn't radically changed then I wouldn't expect it to change. The more miles you have on the clock the slower it will change because it's averaged over all the miles traveled as far as I know. Resetting the trip length indicator should have no influence. Doesn't on mine. I've got about 8800 km on the clock and mine is averaging 5.8l/100km and hasn't changed in quite some time.

Is that correct? Before I had the test drive last week in the 2008 Mk3 XTR, the computer said 6614 miles had been covered @ 44.9mpg and an average speed of 27mph. The salesman reset the fuel computer, iirc by keeping the toggle switch on the end of the right hand stalk depressed for 4 seconds. At the end of my drive when I toggled through again it said 10 miles @ 50.4mpg and an average speed of 29mph.

yes mine changes every time, never stays at a set mpg. I push end in every tank fill up. If I go on a drive 30-60 miles, or a long trip say a few hundred miles I get 49.5mpg but for normal use around my village up and down mountain where I live [ normally 4 times a day] and back and forth to Bangor city, then it shows 42,6 mpg, which is what I would expect. The 1000ft climb on average 4 times a day sucks the fuel out.

If I'm just driving in my local country area I can reset it & it will show up to 53mpg. If I zero it before a fast motorway run 70mph+ it can drop to 44mpg. Its worth experimenting if you want to save fuel, for example keep down to 65mph on the motorway & you can get 48mpg.

That sounds good. The best I can manage with my 2.0Hdi is 49.4, I just cannot get 50mpg no matter what I do.
Oh and thats converting liters to gallons as I dont have a mpg display.
