i can flip the rear seats down but i dont know how to lift the base up!
and
the sliding doors dont lock open, they open ok but dont stay in a "locked" position when open.
what are the secrets?

Lift at the rear of the seat bases and tilt forward - they are heavy and need a bit of a heave though.
The rear doors should latch open, look at the front bottom edge and you will see the latching mechanism.

managed to get the seats folded, i had to lift the springs holding the base in place with my fingers but i got there.
i can see the latch on the bottom of the door, although the latch moves freely - there is a wire connected to what looks like a pivot point which then connects to the latch, i think this is seized so will give it a blast of wd40 and see what happens.

ok so the wd40 loosed 1 off nicely, the other i had to choax - which resulted in the cable snapping, i didnt force it so i reckon it was on its last legs.
