over heating
#1
Hi
Just done a cam belt change on my 1.9 d berlingo (including water pump) On completion fired up first time and left it idling for 15mins and again no problem. Took it on a short run and by the time I got home it was coughing and spluttering. I noticed that thee temp gauge was higher than usual. never had this problem before. I'm guessing the miss fire is due to the hotter than normal engine temp? Could it be that I haven't fully bled the air from the water system?.......... or something worse? Surely if it was a timing issue it would be miss firing from the start?
Help pleaseConfusedcratch:
Kind regards
Brian

The problem is likely to have been introduced by yourself so start simple, check fluids, bleed the system and if there is nothing found then make a simple check of the timing by inserting the locking pins.
Peace of mind is worth a mint and the above won't take long or require any more than the simplest of strip downs.

Did what you suggested Geoff, found timing slightly out. Locked fly wheel an
adjusted cam and fuel pump to bring in line, refit cam belt and job done.
Thanks.
