random central locking
#1
Hi guys, been lurking for a while but the time has come...
I have a 56 plate 1.6hdi desire, a week ago the central locking started clicking on and off as I drove along. A quick look at the locks found one of the kids had jammed the lock selector on the back pass. side door. Took the trim off to find the wee piston from the actuator(?) had gone too far forward and could not slide back. gave it a nudge and all was well for the next week. BUT the central locking has just developed a mind of it's own again. All door locks appear to be ok so was it coincidence? or where do i start looking for faults?

thanks

Hi neepboy, welcome - its good to hear from you.
There is a feature of the central locking that it can come on itself when you start to move off - this is easily disabled.
Assuming that it is a fault try a look through 'possible related threads', this is appearing at the bottom of this page at least it is for me.
Let us know how things develop/resolve.
Cheers.

Random thought, could it be a problem with the key? if the button is sticking maybe it is making contact now and again when it shouldnt. Confusedcratch:

sadly no, doesn't look like it. It's like a dodgy connection randomly locking and unlocking as I drive along.
