rear door locks and dash problem
#1
Have my wee van a few months now 2000 18D and love it but just a few wee things need fixed on it.

My backdoor dosent lock with the central locking and when put key in the lock its as if it dosent go in far enought and dosent turn, i dont carry nothing in the back as its just used as a run around for work but would feel more secure if it locked and rear wipers dont work.

My dash dosent show up the miles corectly nor dose the rev hand work

No rear door central locking and no rear windscreen wiper, I would think you have a problem with the wiring to the back door? also sounds that you need a new rear lock.

does sound like wiring like Trevor says, maybe there is a bad earth somewhere also i believe the locks on mk1 can be dodgy so may be best to replace it.

I had the same backdoor lock problem. Turned out to be a wear issue.
The rod connecting the handle to the lock itself did position itself wrong due to a spring load and prohibiting the electrical lock from activating it in a locked/unlocked position. Mine is a 2002 model and the rod actuated by the locking mechanism is a plastic thingy moved between 2 positions, either to let the handle actuate the lock or not.
Mine came in a position (due to wear) where the handle allways could actuate the lock regardless of the locking-status.
My fix were to restrict the movement of the rod using 3 cable-strips in the left-most end of the slot guiding the rod.

Simple but effective
