As topic states, there is a small diameter clear pipe (call it 5mm or so off of the top of my head) that is under the engine, not connected at one end, just resting on the undertray. Any ideas what this could be for? Tomorrow I'll have a proper go at seeing where the other end leads but a quick tug shows it's connected to something.
P.S. Sorry or peppering this forum with threads at the moment, I don't think there's any more required for a little while (fingers crossed).
Would probably help to know that it's a 2.0 HDI (DW10TD).

I don't know, but as a guess it could be a drain tube from the fuel filter. My 1.6 HDi has a rubber tube attached to the drain outlet on the bottom of the filter that just hangs loose in the engine bay.

I agree with Stuart.The 1.9's have a dangly pipe as well.

I took the tray off today and it was just stuck underneath a bit of absorbent square of material attached to the tray itself. I don't understand what it would be used for, it's a mystery!

It has probably dropped off.Chck the fuel filter for a stub that's lacking a pipe.:thumbsup:
It's the water drain from the fuel filter
OK, thanks everyone. There isn't a pipe attached to the fuel filter, so assuming it's off of that, is it really necessary? None of my other cars had a pipe attached to the water drain off on the fuel filter.
Not strictly necessary I suppose but useful.
I changed my filter recently and used the tube to drain it before removal. If you lift the filter out full if diesel (like I did the first time I changed one) you'll most likely spill some diesel unless you are very careful.
