Hi all. Im looking at a decent looking berlingo van it has 100500 miles on it.  I only need it to use for camping or when the missus takes the car but although i'm not interested in power im concerned about what they are like on fuel.
My driving will consist or local A roads and some motorway what should i be expecting to get from a gallon?
Grateful for any advice. Thanks

1.9d
I've a 2001 1.9d and use it like you want to , approx. 41 mpg and if downhill with a following wind it will do over 70 eventually , 123000 miles and doesn't use oil etc , very dependable .

What they like on motorways do you get better fuel consumption? I dont want nothing fast just a decent reliable van.
I would get a mk1 Vauxhall combo with the Isuzu engine,1,7d,,go for ever,no ecu or doggy electrics just a bog standard diesel, had mine 6 years not one bit of trouble, still regret selling it,

Never had it on a motorway, but its all right on dual carriageways, fuel consumption rises the harder I go .
our 1.9d multispace does low 40.s mostly the wife driving locally, i do occasional longer runs , no problem keeping up with the traffic upto legal limit,   its fine on the motorway.  its not for boy racers but they wont get good fuel economy or be happy with the speed  whatever they drive.
1.9TD 40 -45 mpg

1.9D 45 - 60 mpg but they are slow lol
my 1.9D has never got above 40mpg except when the pump timing was out after a timing belt change gone wrong..... it got near 60mpg then but as you say god it was slow when the timing was wrong.

mines been down to the south of france at 80 all the way and down the autobahn at 90 - But any kind of hill and that drops back to 70.

will do 70 all day long and returns 40mpg going flat out or traffic driving. its religiously doing 500miles a tank regardless of use.
