hi all my wheel trims were over spryed i think by the garage i purchased from , as looked mint , but now the brake dust has stuck to em and need a brillo pad to remove on each wash , so what coulor silver matches the factory finish 2010 model , and does this need laquering so brake dust just wipes away, cheers Rob.
I would try an auto paint supplier.Being plastic you may need a special primer & topcoat.Lacquering will certainly help to protect the paint.I soak mine in a bowl of fairy liquid,1 squirt, warm water, for an hour or so.
I done a set of trims before and yes you need a plastic primer for the next coat to adhere, rattle cans come in a few different shades of silver or get ones made up to a specific code. laquer top coat to help seal the surface but it wont stop brake dust from sticking onto them
aren't the genuine trims already in a paint finish, I did mine, just normal primer, Halfords silver wheel paint and a few coats of laquers, I then wet flatted them and polished them back up, if your trims are painted but not lacquered why not just give them a really good clean, use a tack cloth then laquer them
