Hi guys, apologies if this is in the wrong place, I have done a search and can't find my answer, any advice or help would be very much appreciated as I'm stumped on what to do and have been wondering this for ages and only just found this forum, nice to meet you,

I have a w plate berlingo I'm trying to fix up for work, the engine was running really bad so I took the head off to look for head gasket probs. I'm not gonna bother with that engine anymore just want to put a complete running one in, my question is as I can't find a dw8 for sensible money where I live and living on an island it costs the earth to get stuff sent here, I have access to a running 306 diesel which I believe has the xud engine, its pre 98, can I just lift the rest of the engine from the van and drop in the xud? Would the pump on the xud be ok? Are the pumps coded on these things or are there any other things stopping it from starting when the last bolt is tightened? I have basic mechanical knowledge and think if its a case of lifting one out and one in I may have a van for work but if its going to run into immobilisers and coded pumps etc then I might need some basic instructions. Can someone with the knowledges experience please shine some light on this one. Thank you in advance Smile john
Hi
Not really sure but I think that any problems will be with the wiring looms and sensors
The engine ECU will have to be changed over. If you get the whole 306 you should be able to tack one out of the two. Confusedcratch: Confusedcratch:

There are others on the forum who will know better and they should be along soon
