Hi All, I'm new to the forum and would like a bit of advice please.

Picked up an 06 van with an 80k 1.9d lump 2 days ago and everything runs and works just fine except when I go to switch off. I Pull up, switch off the ignition and the dashboard shuts down as it should (I can hear relays clicking off and the lights go out) but the engine continues to idle for 3-4 seconds then that too shuts down. I phoned the trader I bought it from and he told me it had a new alternator from the local Citroen Dealer and a battery as the old ones were no good. I've also seen what looks like a bit of earth cable with an inline 30A fuse holder in it running between somewhere close to the radiator into the ECU/BSI(?) box on the nearside. Any ideas?
Sounds like the fuel shut off solenoid is faulty.
Check that the electric supply goes off when you switch off the engine - you'll need a helper to turn the key - and if it does then perhaps the valve part is sticky or slow closing.
Thanks Geoff, when it stops pouring with rain I'll give it a try
