How to remove wheel arch liner - cha1n - 08-07-2014

Before cracking on with some work on the Berlingo I was wondering if there's a non-brute-force way of getting the liners off?

I've had a look at the clips and they look like the just push in but I don't want to rip them out and then be left not able to get the wheel arch cover back on.

Thanks for any tips!

Never mind, I've decided after having al look at these things that I'm going to have to rip them out then buy some new ones that are easier to get in/out.

There are tools in those 'panel removal kits' (plastic tools mostly) sold to remove interior panels, chrome trim and such that can be used to more gently remove the 'christmas tree' plugs.

I use a set of very long and thin needlenose pliers. Force the tip under the 'foot' of the 'tree', then open it up a little so that when you shove it further, the ends go on one side each. Shove it further until the tips appear on the other side, close the pliers as much as possible to get a good grip on the tree, then PULL!

Then go and buy some plastic 'pop rivets' to replace the durn things with...

(These are what I use... Hope I never have to remove the liners again... )
