glow plug caps - brit single - 30-12-2014 Problems getting my 2003 diesel to start in the cold weather recently. Â Dont think glow plugs have ever been changed in 110,000 miles. Â popped off the cover, the electrical connection comes away easy, but cannot get the huge electrical connection box off the top of each glow plug. Â any ideas how to get those off so I can change the glow plugs thanks for your help and happy new year to all! RE: glow plug caps - Tomcat3 - 30-12-2014 If you have the 1.9 d it is worth getting the valve clearances checked at that sort of mileage as they tend to close up and give cold starting issues. Plenty on the forum about it. RE: glow plug caps - brit single - 30-12-2014 its the 2.0HDi it has been starting fine in the mild weather hence the thought about the glow plugs will go and look at valve clearance thread Thanks Tomcat! RE: glow plug caps - jonnie100 - 30-12-2014 Just been reading through my owners manual and it mentions initial starting in cold weather tip. Apparently, put the clutch down while starting and give a little throttle. I've been doing that the last few days as it's been freezing and fires up fine. Diesel light comes on for about 1 second on first start but nothing after that. |
