XTR 110 09 fap refill - Embo - 02-08-2015

Just filled up with diesel and a message came up on the my way screen that the fap level was low. Is it easy to refill yourself and where is the additive tank? Any advise most welcome. Thanks

It's by the fuel tank underneath. Filling involves a hose, some fittings, and a catch bottle.
Car needs to be jacked up, fap tank connector connected to bottle via hose, and bottle up-ended high enough for fluid to flow into tank, The catch bottle is to catch fluid when it overflows out of tank.

Anyone know what the fluid is?

Ask for Eloys fluid

Thanks for the name Col. Looks like the eolys fluid is not something you want to breathe or get on your skin too often. Organometallic Ce-Fe compound suspended in hydrocarbons.

Of course, I was thinking Elsan Blue, which would have been totally wrong.

RE: XTR 110 09 fap refill - ron - 02-08-2015

Is it similar to adblue?

RE: XTR 110 09 fap refill - Lighty - 02-08-2015

The latest blue HDI units use Adblue, don't think these have been fitted to a Berlingo yet.

I had to refill the fluid on my wifes Pug 307 a few years back now. If it's the same then the tank takes about 3 litres of the fluid. It was quite pricey, about £120 if I remember for 3 litres from the dealer stealer but I got the correct one. There are different fluids and I think the connectors on the tank are colour coded accoring to the fluid? I think? Just make sure you get the correct one.  With the Pug there were 2 different sorts. I don't know about the Bingo mine doesn't have a FAP/DPF, one of the reasons I bought it.

If you are only going to top it up with 1 Litre remember that, you'll have to have the fault code cleared (and pay of course). Better to get 3 litres even if you can't get the 3 litres in, you can top it up later (before it runs out and you have to pay to have the code re-set).

Also, where possible, try and fill the tank each time. Everytime you take the fuel cap off it detects that you're filling up and doses fluid into the tank. We got 90K before we had to top up but I've seen people have the do it between 45-60K miles.

Oh and use PPE - it's not pleasant stuff!!

Good luck

Oh try this, it's for a Pug but it might help
