Electrics and non-start - kennard - 26-08-2016

2003 Multispace Forte 1.9D

Basically bought relatively cheaply thinking a BSI reset would sort out problems......think again !!

Allegedly, problems started after the battery was drained due to an interior light left on and battery was then charged off the car but reconnected without following the 'correct' procedure.

Car won't start, although turns over fine: Sometimes there is a buzzing sound from the injection pump area (cut off solenoid?).

Electrics:
CENTRAL LOCKING: Not working with no response to key or dashboard button. Also drivers door lock does the "rotating" trick with key inserted on occasion.
HEADLIGHTS: Not working - side lights OK and main beam flash operates, but no main or dip.
ELECTRIC WINDOWS: Not working.
RADIO: Not working.
HEATER BLOWER: Not working
WIPERS: Not working
WASHERS: Not working

Although the previous owner stated that he knew nothing about cars, it appears that the BSI has been 'opened' at some point in the car's past, judging by the broken retaining clips !!

Am awaiting a visit from a friend with a Diagnostic Fault Code Reader: Is there a best method for gaining results? Turn engine over so that crank and cam sensors are investigated? Any tips?

Many thanks in anticipation of replies.

Jon

Should have added that all fuses have been checked and are fine.
