oil leak - simon - 06-03-2012

hi all
i am, having trouble locating an oil leak at the back of the engine on my 2003 1.9 d mk2:brickwall:
any adviceConfusedunny: on the most common area's for oil leak's .would be most appreciated .

I discovered one yesterday while changing the oil (oops!).
Looking from the front it is just above the sump & gasket (so not that, then) front left corner. Could be from the oil pump, but further investigation needed before it gets worse.Confusedillyme:

Hey up again Martin, take it that you gave up on the idea of going to the main stealer for your servicing then ???

I too am reverting back to doing my own except for large or mauling jobs that I cannot now physically do, these will be farmed out....

Hi Martin, I had a leak in a Mark 3 1.6 hdi in the exact same place. It appeared to be coming from the timing belt cover very close to the alternator. It turned out it was coming from the sump gasket and was being sprayed further up the engine by the lowest pulley. I got it sorted out under warranty. Hopefully your's will be the same
