engine hunting - jack - 06-02-2013

got this silly problem now and again my engine will start hunting when cold the revs bounce between 500 and 1000 rpm some times it'll stall and we need to keep the throttle peddle down a little to keep the revs up

the car is a 2000 reg 1.4 petrol 53k miles

any idea's

just serviced before i bought it ???

I had a similar problem not with a Citroen though. It was the throttle position sensor.

Id change the plugs too. Serviced before you got it means it got a oil and filter before you got it.

Happens my gsxr when the iridium plugs wear out

i'll get a new set of plugs tomorrow get them fitted by the weekend

Yes, it was only a few quid and held in place with two screws. You can test them with a meter, they are just a linear potentiometer. I don't know the measurements but someone should have them somewhere.
