Hdi fault help - Fraserd007 - 10-05-2013

Hi new to the forum, new to having a berlingo, it's a 2001 hdi but I'm having a few problems that are driving me mad. Basically the EML comes on when I come to a stop or slow down basically when the brakes are pressed and it seems when the clutch is depressed too, I have tried looking for a fault code reader but to no avail. If anyone knows what the problem could be or at least point me in the right direction for a fault code reader that would be great. Thanks

It may well be your brake light switch itself at fault.

For the code reader, you really need a "Lexia" or "Diag" kit, coupled to an old laptop running Windows XP. Nothing else gives all the access to information for troubleshooting.

Thanks I will check out the reader, forgot to say the revs seem to search aswell go up and down when it happens so not sure on brake light switch. Hoping its something simple and inexpensive. Cheers
