Go to an independent local garage, job isn't hard but you do need a special tool for removing steering arm.
It's an hour job max. |

You will only be able to tell if there is damage when the belt is back on and you do a compression test.
Most engines after 2000 are interference and get damaged when the belt snaps.

Temp sensor is the green 2 pin sensor on top of the stat housing, it does both the temp gauge and the trigger for ecu. |

Check you wishbone rear bushes, commonly referred to as 'P bushes'.
These are rubbish material and fail very quickly, if possible get the p bush replacements from powerflex, then all you ever need to ... |

Don't waste any money on an ecu yet. Unless it's been in an accident the ecu should be fine. Loads of people get a replacement ecu only to find that the fault is within the vehicle.

The cable should reset itself, it's on a ratchet mechanism. Did you lever the clutch arm back? If you did then this is your problem.
