Floor mats

I wanted to find some thick, heavy duty rubber mats that weren't going to cost a fortune. I also wanted to find mats that were specifically moulded and cut to size rather than some of the eBay offerings which are little more than off-cuts that you then have to trim to size yourself.

I have now found a great supplier, and I would happily recommend bootmatz. At the moment their website only lists their boot mats/liners and doesn't show floor mats but these are apparently going to be added soon.

In the meantime they can be found on eBay

I am really pleased with my mats which arrived within a couple of days of ordering. They were £30 plus £7.50 postage (they are heavy) for a set of five mats.

just checked with the advert that appears on here [ the advertising bit] and even with their 30% off they are more expensive than the one Chris suggested.

Ha, i checkout out the advert 1 too from Micksgarage, and found the same. Only a tad more expensive, but you don't really get a feel for the quality.

These ads are really crafty, I guess they pick up on what you have been searching/looking for (which might explain the ad I had this morning )

Anyway, concerning the mats, the ones I got were really good quality, and I don't think that anyone would be disappointed. The guy that runs it seems like a decent bloke from my limited emails with him and probably keen in these times to be competitive (group buy/forum discount?)

Thanks for that, Chris. That is the sort of practical post that is good to see on a forum like this. We've got mats at the moment, but they are somewhat old, so we might be thinking of replacing them.

Maybe you should post some pictures of your mats in situ. The pics on ebay and the website are OK - but I'm sure you can do better!

So, here are the mats in place (still a bit wet, having given them a wash)

The rear mats come in three parts;

The two rear mats can go further under the front seat if a cut-out (which you can see on the sides) is trimmed, but not done this yet.

What is not very clear from the pictures, is that these mats are really thick so they don't move around which can be a pain and potentially dangerous on the driver's side. The deep grooves provide good grip and catch dirt well.

The only criticism would be that it would be nice to been designed so that you could easily access the floor lockers, but as they rarely get used it is not a big deal.

the ones I bought from Citroen are moulded so they lock together in the back making one big wide mat and the front drivers side locks into place so it cant move. Expensive but well worth it. [ for mk 3]

Yours sounds ideal. The rear mats that I have got are not perfect but then were relatively cheap. The front of the mk2 doesn't have any fixing points in the footwell so they are just lying there. It's bit low-tech in mk2 land.
