Wet carpet
#1
I have noticed the drivers seat front fixing near the door was a little rusty, I took no notice until recently when I felt around it and found the carpet to be damp, but not all over just in the immediate vicinity of the fixing, is it possible for water to come thru at this point ?.
Nowhere else is there any sign of dampness in the car, has anybody had this problem ?Confusedcratch:

Look underneath for rustyness at that point.
Clean it off and get some aerosol underseal/waxoyl
Id also take off the seat pull up the carpet to dry while investigating.Again some waxoyl all over the fitting while reassembling
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

I've noticed the same thing and intended to look closer if only it would stop raining! How easy is it to remove the whole drivers seat or can just that bracket be removed by itself?

You might find then that it is coming in through the sil seam.
The plastic cover which covers the lower door rail on the inside vents it's water from the rail into the inner sil.
Check that the drain slots underneath this aren't blocked.

Rustscrat,

Can you clarify please?

Do the drains under the inner plastic trim need clearing? If so, they must be self evident. If it is drain slots beneath the vehicle, where are they? I had a look today and couldn't see anything obvious.

I've had a damp driver's footwell carpet since I got it and just can't find the source

Thanks

Sorry what I mean are the 2 slots under the sil. These were blocked with underseal/crud. I'll see if I can get a pic. of them tomorrow.

There are 2 "bumps" in the sil toward the front with a small slot about 1mm x 10 wide. I used an old cut down steel rule with crank in it. see below. Confusedalut:
