Whilst awaiting the PSA workers in Rennes consructing our Berlingo we have found some, to us, disconcerting reports on the fuel economy we can expect.
In one of his postings Pete has told us that he gets 47mpg up and down the hills of Wales and 50ish on dual carriageways. However the Which report is fairly scathing and quotes 32.5 mpg at motorway speeds.
Can any other HDi110 owner throw a little more light on this fuel economy issue.
We were rather hoping that the Berlingo would equal or beat the consumption we currently get from our Xantia 1.9 turbo diesel estate of 39-41mpg (air conditioning on) at French Autoroute cruising speeds.
Best wishes,
Jim & Tracey

Hi Jim and Tracey,
I recently made a trip from Basel to Zürich - 200km round trip. On the Autobahn (dual carriageway to you) I was monitoring instantaneous fuel consumption at 120 km/hr (Swiss speed limit) on the flat with little traffic so speed was pretty constant. Mileage was varying between 61 and 64 mpg. I have 3200 km on the clock so far driving mainly (90%) city and country roads. The combined average so far is 47.8 mpg. I'm using Imperial gallons and
this calculator. I'm well pleased with these numbers.

glad you guys agree with my figures.......I`m well pleased considering size of mk 3, did consider mini cooper or C1 to get reported 68 mpg, but I needed some room for camping / junk / carrying work tools etc
I think 47 - 49 is good for such a fairly large box of air.
Pete
I got more than 32.5 towing caravan at 60 on motorway back from Scotland.....with cruise control on.[ that does make a difference of a few mpg].
Dont believe that report, they must have been anti or had a Friday car.
