Uploading pictures

The forum is a much better place with the images of our Blingo's uploaded.
Those who have done this may well have found they have had to reduce the size or quality of the image .

The best way round the issue is to make a donation and a very grateful Andre (the site costs dosh to run) will upgrade your control panel to allow bigger images -plus a few more nice little privaleges.

There is another way,and this method will reveal a mildy disturbing surprise for the unaware:whistle:.
The jpeg you are uploading also contains hidden text data which is unneccessary for just viewing the photo.
This just adds to the size of the file.
Not by much but it can make the difference.

The data can be removed in most photo editors just by ticking or unticking a box as you export or save the file
The box will be named something like remove (or maintain) EXIF (or Metadata)

The concerning bit is the data is a log of the entire history of the file-what software was used and all the steps you took in processing your picture
It specifies the make,model and ,sometimes, even the serial number of your camera.
Viewers of your picture can read this information with the asci text editor included in most operating systems.
Ive just looked at some of my snaps - an Olympus C750 and Photoscape.

I dont think the vice squad is particularly interested in BF (except for rons contributions) so dont worry-go find that tickbox!!!

Its a privacy thing - some folk are paranoid about their data.
The site you use doesnt seem to give the option to remove the info,but its not personal anyway - just your camera etc

photo/pic editing software. It's original appeal, way back, was that the whole program would fit on
a floppy disc. It's quick and simple to use and will deal with almost graphic file formats and
many sound formats. It's the first thing I install on any new PC. It'll resize a pic in three or four clicks.
It's also FREE! I've been using it since Windows 3.1.1!!

Ive had paid for ones over the years that are just overwhelming with all the bells and whistles but MS Paint is near usless.
I stumbled upon Photoscape which is also free.
Quite powerful,easy to use,nice to look at and has a wicked little set of effect filters also.
