Am shopping around for tow bar with single electrics , the car has reversing sensors and some fitting companies say a detachable one is needed and others say a normal witter type will be ok and won't interfere with the sensors. Any thoughts on this? I've been quoted 280 quid for the witter.
I know nothing about or do I have a tow bar fitted but I do have a switch by my right knee that disables the reversing sensors, I believe it was a standard fitting.
The tow bar will not interfere with the parking sensor's when you put the trailer or caravan onto the tow bar and connect the electrics the parking sensors should auto switch off so it up to you which one you want  Wink
Hi all, would switch off parking aid when towing trailer, but think one supplier / fitter was saying tow bar could interfere with parking aid when not towing during normal use?
Ah I never thought of that, see I said I knew nowt about towing bars Smile I had forgotten about the 'hook' sticking out the back. I would not have thought that that would not interfere with the sensors. A demountable one would solve the problem, but I believe that they are quite expensive. Jed's idea sounds more like it to me.
Good idea Doofer, ile give it ago when I get chance, mite get some funny looks from the neighbours though! Do you have a tow bar fitted?
I just went for a towbar a couple of days ago, but went for a detachable in the end, when the bar is removed you can hardly notice anything under there so it might be a safer option, it wasn't that much more expensive than a flange one.....
Will compare prices and see. Is there any cutting of the bodywork involved ? Some say it's worth going for a swan neck type.
He had to cut about 1cm off the bottom right under the car where you can't see it so not too bad. I'll post a pic when I get a chance.....
No cutting of the body work fixed or detachable if you have to cut body work you have the wrong one swan neck are fine
