I've finally got my hands on a vehicle (not a Berlingo, but a Partner Tepee) - very nice car but the hands-free experience is woeful.

I'm unsure why they think a scroll wheel to go all the way through an address book is a sensible solution to keep your eyes on the road, so I'm looking to get rid of the current single din radio and replace it with something a bit better.

It is a RD5 radio - suspect a default item for the Peugeot, but I'm also assuming that the wiring behind the fascia is going to be the same on the Berlingo and the Partner...so what kind of solution is out there?

A retractable screen might be useful - but will probably end up fouling the clock and screen on the dashboard - so that isn't ideal so suspect a Double DIN unit would be better as from what I can tell, a screen does allow a far easier/quicker (and potentially safer) way of accessing the address book to make a phone call.

So after getting a solution to allow me improve my hands-free experience, I'd also like it to remain hooked up to my steering remote control, have a USB and aux connector - I'm not bothered about video out to play DVDs, but a lot of units on offer now also offer a reversing camera - which could be a nice touch - but isn't essential.

So what is there out there please? Also, when a new radio is installed, does it need connected or programmed to the car? Peugeot (and I think Citroen) do a 7" touchscreen system that has sat nav included in it - I'm not overly bothered about sat nav, but would that be more likely to just fit right in? I suspect I'd loose the USB slot on the dash with that so not ideal at all.

I have had a quick scan through the forum but couldn't find anything...I'm also aware that there could be loads of differences between the Berlingo and Partner and this might not be the right forum, but I'm hoping it is.

I have a Partner Tepee 2011, and I pulled out the standard unit (no Bluetooth) and fitted a Pioneer MVH-AV280BT. This is a double din unit with blue tooth, usb, audio in, and rear camera input. With the addition of a control pro harness, you will be able to use most of the audio stalk controls as well, or at least you can tailor them to suit. I moved the USB into the glovebox, and was able to hook up a rear camera, which will activate on the screen when you put the car into reverse. You could also have the camera on when moving forward.
The whole package saved me the mess of a rear view camera screen, a parrot Bluetooth unit etc. The pioneer came with a hands free mic, which has worked well for my needs.
One thing that I did find out was that I am not able to adjust the centre dash clock, as it was done through the old radio controls. I have tried to adjust the dash clock with the stalk controls, but I cannot get a reaction.
My solution is when the time changes, I have to reconnect the old stereo and adjust the clock and then plug in the new stereo again. It is a bit of a pain, but until I can find a better solution, I can live with it, and have a decent radio/handsfree/reversing camera/usb combination.
If I was doing it all again, I would go with a system that has the mirror link/carplay, but you will pay more for that.

Hi BD, I managed to put in a double din unit with Bluetooth and dab. Stalk controls still working too. Unit is Kenwood DPX406DAB. But you need to check what bits you might need to retain stalk and central display functionality.
