I need to top up my gearbox oil and was wondering what the views of other members are on this subject. So far as I can make out, it's supposed to be 75w80 oil. Looking on Euro Car Parts they have something called MP80w which I'm assuming is 80w but have no idea if that's 80w80 or 80w90. Anyone used that oil?

Thanks
You do need 75w80 synthetic

Many thanks for the link.

A quick update, seems that GSF also sell this oil. Normally it's about £11 at GSF so Neilsen is the best price I could find anywhere yesterday but GSF are regularly offering 40-50% off at weekends.

Best to look for the original oil which is likely to be Total 75/80 BV or it's new name is Gear 8... E-bay from around £7 per litre delivered. I wouldn't bother topping it up because there must be a leak if it needs topping up so best thing to do is fix the leak and replace the oil which is around 2litres.
Most common leaks are from the drive shaft seal on the gearbox which is a pretty easy job if you have the tools to take the wheels / drive shafts out..
