Hi. I have a slow start problem with my 08 1.6 hdi. Only when left for a period of time does it slowly start.
I have read air leak back so therefore checked the primer.
When I squeeze it I can hear air gushing out. Don't no if this is right or wrong. Also it don't matter if car left for period of time or after been drove. Car drives fives.
Could someone either try there's or inform me as to what's going on.

i had a problem on escort van real pain to start first time in the day but ran fine after that turned out to be a bleed screw on the top of the fuel filter the threads had gone in it allowing the diesel to run back to the tank over night it all looked fine till i tried to nip it up a little bit more. Took screw out little bit arraldite on it screwed back in problem gone

Bulb on ours is not 'squishy' after a week lying idle (just back from 7 days away) - started first time 'on the button' this morning.
Sounds like you have the leak back problem??

Hi again. Ok since writing and asking for help I've worked on fuel primer and can confirm it's fine. I've fitted a inline non return valve and the diesel stayed on both sides of valve even for a week. I've recently replaced the egr valve for a brand new 1 off eBay.
However my intermiting starting problem still exists. I've looked at using the cheap Bluetooth obd connector and checked codes. It's showing p1462. Anybody any experience with this and how to solve it.
My berlingo is the b9 2008 hdi vtr with no air con.
Please help.

Took it to the garage, where they found the code P1462 - which points at the EGR valve - probably gunged up.
OR ,
P1462 egr electro valve position
So take your pick
If you can get access to a proper Lexia , that will give a better idea where your fault is. The cheap dongles don't always work properly. The A/C code is probably for a petrol engine.
I think its your egr or the egr control or air vacuum pipes maybe leaking or not fitting right. It could also be the air mass sensor.
Hi brodfather11. Wow that's a defo great description on the codes. It's explaining a few issues I may have.
Today I done a leak off test (sit version) and found injector 2nd in from gearbox side to be pouring diesel out. I then looked on diagnostics again to which now have the engine light on but also found code p0204.
I've bought on eBay today a good second hand injector and seal kit. Hoping to fit this at weekend and will update further. Fingers crossed this clears/sorts alot of the problems out.

Hi. Like I said I am updating info.
The good condition and tested used injector has fixed my starting problem however I still am seeing this code p1462.
I don't have a engine management light on.
