BSI Reset.

Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.
Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.
Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.
Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).
Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.
Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.
Remove key open & close door test central locking system.
Start the engine and complete the system's check.
If this does not work and you still have a problem with odd behaviour of the windows, central locking, lights, wipers or suchlike, you can perform a hard reboot of the BSI by locating and pulling the SH-HS Shunt-link (looks like a fuse but is green & white with SH-HS stamped on it) then after a minute, reinsert it.

The battery should remain connected for this type of reset.

The link mentioned is on the BSI front panel, which for the B9 vehicle is behind the glovebox and on the M59 is under the steering wheel behind the lower dash panel.

Ensure you put the shunt link (SH-HS link) back in the correct position, not in the "PARK" position, or the radio, interior lights, central locking etc will appear to be malfunctioning...
