Afternoon all. Just been to our local factors to get a set of balljoints for our 2006 Desire and was told only whole arms with balljoints are available for these cars at £80 pep side. Is that the case? Thanks in advance
IIRC there are 2 versions, one with a bolt on ball joint, and the other all in one. Not sure if it's possible to change from one to the other.
These days I always work on the basis that if a bottom joint is " gone " then the wishbone bushes will be past their best before date as well, I always swap out a complete wishbone for convenience.

That said, I have in the past changed just the bottom joint in situ on other cars, including my last Berlingo 1.9d

My 1.6 Hdi has the cast arms so different on that model
Shop around you will find them cheper, plus if the ball joints are rivetted in they can be remob=ved and replaced bt bolted ones

I believe they are interchangeable, but I haven't tried personally.

Ours has cast wishbones and i changed one this year for MOT at a cost of £43. It was only replaced a couple of years before that and had not done many miles but the ball joint was well and truly shot.
Thank you all.

All makes sense. Inspected the wishbones last night. Yes, they are a single unit with the balljoint and yes, they are pretty much knackered. Rubber cracked and separating from metal etc, so time for new ones, ouch..
They are dead easy to DIY change if you are used to working on cars. Worth doing the ARB bushes at the same time whilst you're in the area.
Thanks, will do!
Do I start my Chinese ball joint rant?
