It's nothing new of course but there can't be many other small vans that when you look side on you can't tell if it's a Citroen ,Peugeot,Vauxhall,Fiat or Toyota.
Now Ford and VW have teamed up as well.
It is really pity that the choice of the small vans started to be much less and less.
When I am comparing the insurance price of all these cars and vans I can accept, I suprisely founded that 10 yrs ago in UK there is so many choices. The berlingo/partner, VW caddy, Fiat doblo, Vauxhall Combo, Ford transit connect, Renault kangoo/Nissan NV250/Mercedes Citan, Skoda roomster,Nissan NV200. If money permitted you can also try some more special ones like Honda StepWGN an so on. And if you live in Europe you can also try Dacia lodgy or Lada largus. So many different choices for different guys.
But then, the Fabia-based roomster was discontinued, and the corsa-based combo also faced a model change and it became a rebadged fiat doblo. Then, the doblo and combo became berlingo, and transit connect became caddy as you said.
I think now there is only these choices:
1. Citroen Berlingo/Peugeot Rifter/Fiat Doblo/Toyota Proace city/Vauxhall Combo
2.Renault Kangoo/Nissan Townstar/Mercedes Citan
3.VW Caddy/ Ford Transit connect
What a pity that we lost so many interesting vans and choices seems to be less and less. But this not only happens in Europe. It is quite common to use rebadge in commercial vehicles. The Nissan NV200 also have a rebadged Chevrolet Express City in USA. By the way, the most most popular van in China, Buick GL8, its first generation is just a rebadged Vauxhall Sintra and that garbage van was even sold unbelievably to 2010.

I had to smile, when at work all our company Renault Kangoos [original version] were replaced recently. One of the managers gleefully stated we've got replacement vehicles that are Mercedes. Had to point out to him that Mercedes Citans were rebadged Renault Kangoos with a slightly different interior and front grille

I wouldn't buy a new one, but would consider an old one, as a quirky classic. I read years ago that they were built like tanks, which appeals to my no-nonsense ultra-basic aesthetic. Parts might be a problem though.
I'm not too sure what the difference between a LWB Berlingo and a Despatch is either.
