Hi all

I just bought a 2008 Berlingo 1.6 HDI 75 HP.
80 000 km

The car has an unknown service history so I will go through it ASAP.
Changed oil to day and will do it again when i get a new oil filter.
Very black oil..

75HP motor seems very strong.

I like it so far!

I am from Norway.

Hi there Jan!! Welcome to our forums! Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
The correct oil is very, very important in these engines but put the right grade in and
change it about every 12,000km and you'll be fine.
Welcome.Check/change all filters, cambelt kit etc. Then you know exactly where you are.I hope you enjoy your Berlingo ownership.
Hi there dude ! good choice and welcome
Perfect timing for a timing belt , wouldnt you say ?
Your english is soooo much better than my norwegian and my english probably
Welcome!
Thanks for the welcome.
I usually use a syntethic 5-40 for my cars. It complies with these standards: API SM/CF, ACEA A3/B3/B4

This time i used a 5-50 - API SL/CF, ACEA A3/B3.

Will these oils not be good enought for the 1.6 HDI?

A different type of oil would be recommended.
The specification must meet:
* ACEA 2007 C2 & A5/B5
*TOTAL QUARTZ INEO ECS is the only low SAPS oil recommended by PEUGEOT and CITROEN.
NORM PSA PEUGEOT & CITROEN B71 2290.

However according to the various manufacturer's own websites
these are as good or better than Total:

Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30
Millers Oils XF Longlife C2 5w-30
Shell Helix Ultra Extra 5W-30 Premium
5w30 Carlube Triple R Fully Synthetic C2
Comma Pro-Tech 5W-30
Morris Multilife C-TWO 5W/30 Fully Synthetic
Valvoline SynPower ENV C2 5W-30
Lucas Engine Oil 5W30 5L Fully Synthetic
Gulf Formula PCX 5W-30
....to name but a few! All of these oils meet or exceed PAS B71 2290

You will also notice that all of these oils are 5w/30. Your 50 weight oil is too thick I think.
