havent you got a seat box, magical thing. one takes the seat fitted out, puts a fish box in with hinged lid and WOW loads of storage space.....easier to get to handbrake as well. cushion optional.

Pretty poor design making it unsafe for taller driversSad

No such headroom challenges in the Mk2 so why the retrograde step?

Does anyone know how much the headroom has changed between models?

Not specifically, but there is noticably less.It probably the shallower streamlined shape at the front-the MK1/2 have a very upright windscreen.
The overhead storage space depth is reduced on the MK3.
And there I was thinking how much headspace my MK3 gives me, compared to my old Scenic. It seems like a cathedral in comparison.

I thought I was tall (6' 3") but if anyone considers the headroom challenging, they must be even taller!

I am 5' 11" my seat is 15.5" from the floor and there is 41" from the seat to the roof, this leaves 7" from the top of my head to the roof.
What's the seat box? Does it add anything that remotely holds a decent cup of coffee securely? I've never seen so much space in that centre cubby hole dooda, and nowhere to stow the coffee cups. The ones down by the gear stick are fine for your maccy D cups, but no good for your more upmarket Starbucks?

And what are those sloping holes to the left and right of the radio all about?

The semi-auto gear selector takes up residence in one of the holes, circular type airfreshener fits into them also, but got to agree that they are weird
who is the rich one? affording starbucks coffee????? move the little ash tray thingybob out and stick your coffee cup in there, it takes macdonalds coffee cups well.
Yeah - I do find the gear stick awkward, especially when turning sharp right and changing gear, but, I expect to get used to it..seat thing no problem, I'm 6 foot 4 (1.8M), and I fit in OK, have to have seat lowered to bottom and set right back though - do not like the new position for passenger dashboard box, too low - and really would like more info re: trip computer, overall though - still a Berlingo so fine with me
