Can anyone remember these fine beasties, Inherited one off my dad when he passed away. It was my first motor and I thought it was the "dogs danglies" 1963 Standard Atlas Major, ours had the KENEX camper van conversion and powered by a Triumph 1300cc. petrol engine. Don't anyone tell me a 1.9'Lingo is slow...... 45mph in the Atlas and you are going through the sound barrier and the engine would have been better installed with Velcro or zip fasteners for the amount of times it was in and out. Up and down like a bride's nightie...

The photo as shown is not of my motor which I sold many years ago, this is one of the few survivors, seen at a classic and vintage car show....
I saw an Austin A38 at Staverton Airport's open day. The spec given in the windscreen was Max speed 74mph, 0-60 30.5 seconds.

getting way off topic now,I did some research a few years back, fighters were scrambled from Staverton to intercept a German bomber having a pop at the ammunition factory at Hereford. They bagged him down at Usk ,which is near where Ron is situated.

The Official secrets act is now verifying some 'old wives tales' about the factory-like when the MOD 'lost' a big locomotive they requisitioned from GWR.It derailed and disappeared into a flooded gravel pit.Never seen or mentioned again.
I hope you are not trying to blame me for the missing loco(& I'm not giving it back)
Loco ,rolling stock and a pair of Heinkel engines.
I know whats in your shed,Ron.
My first 4 wheel transport was an Austin A35 van. Seller wanted £50 as it stood with no first an reverse gear or £70 with a BMC Gold Seal refurbed gearbox. It cornered like a pig on roller skates with skinny crossply tyres. Had semaphore indicators that used to stick and refuse to come out necessitating banging on the door pillar to release it or relying on backup system - i.e. hand signals.
Happy days? Well I guess I'm happier in my Berlingo.
