(24-07-2011, 09:38 AM)bigsacs Wrote: [ -> ]Hi, I found the solution was to use an 'FM Transmitter' it plugs into my mp3 player via a 3.5mm jack and also into the 12v power supply by the gearstick. Select one of the suggested FM frequencies and thats it. I've never had any interference and the sound quality is perfect. A quick look on eb*y shows them from £3 upwards and even with inclusive power supply's for ipods. Apologies if this isn't what you're looking for! Cheers Bigsacs SmileSmile

See other threads on the topic, I bought one off e-bay to marry up to an mp3 player and to put it bluntly, It is pretty shite :!::!::!::!:

Hi Guys,

I had received some pretty dismal reports about these FM devices and that's why I am going down the route of a 'hard wired system'. However, things always improve and maybe there is a good one out there! Still too hot for me to even consider doing the job, give it another month...then on it! I will post pictures if successful.

Regards, El Berlingo
Bluetooth head unit with USB connection, Sony make loads from around £100, can play your music via Bluetooth , don't even need a jack, plus a USB to charge, it's a cracking buy
Another vote for changing the head unit for ipod compatible. While you've got your hand in your pocket get the interface for the steering column controls, you won't regret it, safer, easier, and the ipod can be in the glove box out of harm's way.

On FM transmitters; the problem isn't necessarily the transmitter but here in the UK at least the fact that the radio spectrum is so crowded means it's difficult to find an empty frequency to use and when you do you find you have to change it over the next hill. If there is empty air then they're not too bad, use one in the work van sometimes.
Hi El Berlingo,

Did you have any luck finding a solution to this?

I have just bought a Berlingo with the Clarion CD unit and would love to connect an ipod to the CD changer button.

Thanks,

JT

I'm in the same boat, needed to get some proper music in there,so I have for now
Opted for the fm transmitter type £4 on the bay delivered, used it over the weekend and have to say I cannot fault it although I was in wales the whole time so frequency was readily available, I store the pod in the drop down cd case in the roof guessing the nearer the ariel the better.

Hi there!

I fitted a bluetooth stereo into my berlingo so it can play your music and make, recieve calls too!

Very Clever bit of kit!
Anyone here had any problems pairing iPhone? Mine won't pair. The phone pairs with other bluetooth-gadgets, but not my Berlingo. Sugestions?
I would say an FM adapter for the ipod, or upgrade the head unit - you can have a lot of fun choosing any type really (from your basic Senhai, to Alpine's and Pioneers!)
I've a fm transmitter which I'm satisfied with in general, it's a dearer example that retunes itself to the best fm frequency whenever necessary. It is excellent in areas with only a small number of radio stations, such as Cornwall where we have the bbc stations plus heart and a local independent only
We'd like to be able to connect in our iPods to the new car and I see that Citroen sell an iPod connector as an accessory. HAs anyone tried plugging one of these in? Does it fit in the front of the stereo or in the back?

I'm assuming the car will have the standard RD4 stereo.

In the past I've tried the FM transmitter too but with little success - too fiddly and want to hard wire a decent solution if I can...
