Electric window not working - fuses?
#1
Firstly, 2003 1.9D multispace: Bought as a non-runner with electrical problems (BSI) with the saving grace that the cambelt, idler and water pump had been very recently replaced by the previous owner (More of which in a moment!).

Had to bypass immobiliser by replacing stop solenoid with 'simple' version, have also replaced ecu and bsi with ones from a suitable donor, and replaced com2000: Car is now a runner, with help from forum members, and having rectified the incorrect fitting of the cambelt by the previous owner.

Electrical problems now, largely, overcome..... BUT have remaining issues of non-working electric windows, central locking and a radio that emits an annoying beep every few seconds.

I have a Lexia clone, but would not claim to be an expert in it's use! I'm becoming more confident with it, but am sure I still need much guidance.

The electric windows are the issue I most need to resolve, and I'm wondering whether this could in any way be related to the removal of the injection pump immobiliser circuitry, or if it's either a bsi programming issue or a 'simple' fuse problem.
1) Starting with the fuses, my Haynes manual refers to fuses FA, FB, FC, FD, FE, and FF being in the 'Built-in systems interface fuse box', with fuse FE being for the electric windows (FA, incidentally is for the central locking), but I have been unable to locate this 'fuse box'! CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME WHERE THESE FUSES ARE?
2) Regarding the removal of the 'tube' of immobiliser electronics with the old injector pump stop solenoid. COULD THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH INOPERABLE ELECTRIC WINDOWS (and, perhaps, central locking) ?
3) In respect of bsi programming. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME AN 'IDIOT'S GUIDE' AS TO HOW TO DO THIS ?

As a matter of interest, and possibly relevant (?), the central locking appears to make no attempt to operate at all, either from the facia button or with key locking the car.

The radio is, I'm assuming, an issue between codes in the radio and bsi: Running diagnostics only comes up with a permanent fault in the aerial which, if cleared in the Lexia, solves the beeping issue. Sadly, the beeping returns once the ignition is switched off and then on again.

As ever, I am certain some of you 'gurus' will know the answers.

Ultimately, I will not let this car beat me !!

I believe that the fuse box your looking for is by your right knee as you sit in the drivers seat?
The flap of it folds down

Hi I am also currently doing a Berlingo 1.9 project...

I'll get back to you regarding electric windows as I'm also having same problem after swapping bsi.

I do know about the radio beeping though, it's to do with the VIN number stored in radio you need to change it to the bsi VIN.

Did you bypass immobilser because it would not start with the key you had off donor vehicle?

Basic location of fuses not a problem, however a marked difference between M49 and M59 Berlingo versions.

My specific issue is with what my Haynes manual refers to as fuses FA, FB, FC, FD, FE, and FF being in the 'Built-in systems interface fuse box': There are a number of fuses on the BSI unit, but none with the identification FA, FB, FC, FD, FE, or FF.

Hi noname9

Whilst I'll continue in my quest to get the windows working, I'm hoping you'll find the answer to this conundrum first and can then guide me through a fix !!

The radio glitch I should sort out with the VIN number info.

Due to the previous owner having replaced the BSI, the ECU and BSI were ignoring each other and the immobiliser decided to have a sulk !
After then replacing BSI and ECU with a matched pair from a donor vehicle (from which the injection pump had sadly been removed), I think I had no financially viable option other than to bypass the immobiliser.
Regarding keys: I retained the original ignition switch but switched the blades of the keys from the original keys to the donor keys - additionally replacing the plip transponder.
As far as I know, my issue was solely that the immobiliser hard coding in the injection pump stop solenoid could not be recognised by the 'new' bsi/ecu kit and, unfortunately, cannot be re-coded.

As a slight aside kennard, does your BSI talk to your dash clocks? Does it show the mileage and fuel level with the key at position 2? I have yet to fully reprogram a BSI but I found at least one incorrect setting that completely stopped all comms between BSI and the dash. I wonder if any particular BSI settings can cause the BSI - ECU connection to break down in the same way.

Hi 'collapsed' (Does your moniker tell it's own story! - torsion bars?)

Good point about the inter BSI - ECU communication: Mileage and fuel level show fine with key at position 2 ...BUT... I do have concerns as to whether my Lexia is communicating thoroughly with all ecu's.
When I run diagnostics - Global Scan - I do get a question mark in the 'fault' column against 'switch module at the steering wheel' and 'airbag': All items record 'YES' in the 'dialogue' column.

I'm sure I did once find mention of the question mark issue and IIRC it indicates that the Lexia software is not compatible with the car - probably too old a version of Lexia ??
I WOULD WELCOME ANY COMMENTS/INPUT REGARDING THIS.

I have to admit to not being confident that my Lexia/Diagbox software installation went as smoothly as I'd hoped: The disks I received with the Lexia hardware are somewhat difficult to decipher in terms of correct installation procedure (my Chinese is non-existent), and the files on the disks do not match with those I have seen on any youtube installation tutorials !!
As far as I can tell, my software as loaded is version V347.19: Maybe this is part of my problem?

As part of my original post, I had a particular question regarding fuses which remains unanswered:

1) Starting with the fuses, my Haynes manual refers to fuses FA, FB, FC, FD, FE, and FF being in the 'Built-in systems interface fuse box', with fuse FE being for the electric windows (FA, incidentally is for the central locking), but I have been unable to locate this 'fuse box'! CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME WHERE THESE FUSES ARE?

Are Haynes leading me up a blind alley, or is there indeed a separate fuse box for these fuses?
Are they even, somehow, within the BSI? (They're certainly not within the bank of fuses on the BSI).
Do they exist at all ?
