Had to replace my rear springs today as one of them decided to snap near the base.

Quite an easy job as the springs sit separate from the rear shocks.

Only problems were couldn't really get the normal small spring compressors located into place as there are too many obstructions [top and bottom mounting plates] and there isn't enough room to really space them evenly, to the point I didn't really feel safe, so I invested in a set of these

   


Yes, quite hefty and cost about £60, but better than having a spring in the face! Made the job a lot easier [and I'll also use them when I do  my top mounts at the front   ]

Only other slight problem was the upper rubber stops are a very tight fit and needed some silicone grease to release from the old springs.

Bought Kilen replacement springs [Made in Sweden] and paid about £70 for the pair. 

Also make sure you have the correct springs, mine were the HD version for a Berlingo Multispace with AC and a Glass roof.

Didn't know the berlingo had rear springs , I thought all models had torsion bars .

If you remove both shock absorbers can you drop the axle enough to put the spring in without compressing as we did on my daughter's Corsa ?

On the side with the broken spring, yes   but on the other side that still had the spring intact, I needed the compressors. Also be careful to support the axle so as not to put strain on the brake pipes etc.
