Have you checked the connector at the door hinges and verified that there's power there, or that there's a connection from that connector to the one on the mirror?

Heated mirrors should really be standard equipment on all cars in Europe.
Not only is it nice in the winter, but it's a godsend when the mirrors suddenly fogs over when driving in tunnels.

wiring runs all the way to inside of door at mirror bolt on point, there is two plugs at this ponit, one for electric mirror adjustment, this is black, the other one is for electric folding and heating, this is brown in colour, no power coming to any wiring at the back of this plug, am i rite in saying that the heated mirror function needs to be activated in the ecu

Just noticed that you said you fitted a switch.  Shouldn't need to be done AFAIK.  The plug should get power when the existing defrost switch is pressed.  Not sure what an Enterprise is though.  If van then switch maybe not there if no rear window so ignore.

Hey fellas,

I would like to fit heated mirrors to my van. I would like to use oem switches if I can. My heater control panel has the 'recirculate air' button on the left, the a/c button in the middle and a blank on the right where the heated rear screen / heated mirrors button would go. Does anybody know where I could get this little rear window heater button to install where the blank is? I've had a good look online but haven't seen anything. In my searches I have not seen any heater control panels that contain all 3 buttons.

Any info would be a help.

Cheers.

Hi again folks, I am just revisiting this issue again as winter is approaching.

I discovered that the blank button on my heating controls where the heated rear window / heated mirrors button should be can easily be modified. I was able to take off the heater control panel fascia, flick out the blank (which is actually a switch button with a little plastic tab on it to prevent it from sliding in and out) and modify it to work properly as a button. The microswitch that triggers the heated rear screen /mirrors relay was already there, as was the little orange light that indicates the rear screen heater / mirror heater is on, much to my amazement. So now when I press my modified blank button the little orange light comes on and the relay clicks!

However, this is where my success has been halted. The relay clicks but no voltage appears at either of the plugs at the wing mirror bolt on points inside the doors. It's driving me nuts!! It seems the relay is being energized but no voltage is flowing through it into the heated mirror circuit. The fuse 17 (40A) is in place and I can confirm there is power coming to the fuse and that the fuse is good.

The Haynes manual mentions a relay 'R8' for heated rear windscreen / heated mirrors but also states that "no location information is available for the following relays". I assume this relay is built into the bsi? I have removed the glove box and I can hear the relay clicking and it sounds like it's inside the bsi.

The only other fuse I can find referenced is the folding mirrors fuse which is supposedly in the 'cabin fuse box' as distinct from the bsi fuse box according to my Haynes manual. However I can't find this bloody thing

I am going to remove whatever I have to remove this evening to get at the bsi in the hope I discover that there is a loose or unplugged connection from the bsi to this circuit.

Any thoughts or advice?

I should also mention that I connected the van to diagbox last night and spent hours rifling through the menus. I have concluded that heated mirrors are not something that can be activated in diagbox. I was surprised and disappointed as I was absolutely sure this was the issue. I have read on several forums that this should solve the problem but as far as I can see its not an option.

I have a 2012 enterprise van and it only had the driver's side with a heated mirror. I fitted a heated mirror to the passenger side, and it worked straight away. Mind you, the switch was always there and are an option on the enterprise. I'll take a look in DiagBox tomorrow. I updated mine to 7.62 as I heard the later versions (7.65 onwards) have less options for configuration, but previous versions before 7.62 were missing the data on the DPF and the option for a regen.

I'll let you know if I find it. Have you looked in Customer delivery options? (Think that's what it was called)

Hey Zion, I am using diagbox 7.57. I believe I have gone through all the menus available. However, I could well have missed something as it was my first time using it. I would be grateful if you could have a look through yours and let me know if you see anything I could have missed.
